4. QUILLE'S FARMHOUSE
This farmhouse represents the farm holding of a ‘strong’ farmer of about 100 acres. The single storey dwelling and its outbuildings are arranged about a rectangular space to form a courtyard. This is a typical layout for large and medium sized farms over much of Munster, Leinster and east Connaught.
Unlike the other dwellings on Muckross Traditional Farms, the rooms of this farmhouse are linked by a passage or hallway. It also differs from them in that the large, rear kitchen contains a coal- burning range for cooking and heating water. The roof is clad with slate.
